The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to a number of Irish people who have been caught up in the Greek wildfires.

Fears are growing for Irishman Brian O'Callaghan-Westropp who was honeymooning at the resort of Mati when the blaze started on Monday.

His wife Zoe Holohan is being treated in hospital for burns, the couple were separated trying to escape the blaze.

Franco De Bonis works at Blood Bikes Dublin, with Mr O'Callaghan Westropp and says he's a great colleague:

"His just one of these big personalities would have headed off fully looking forward to a wonderful time, rest relaxation and here we are."
