Gardai say they'd be able to respond to a terrorist attack in Dublin city centre within eight minutes.

Members of the force have been meeting with experts to discuss policing tactics.

The Garda Commissioner says they'll be increasing the armed support unit here over the next 10 days.

Speaking in the wake of the London attacks, Noirin O'Sullivan said Gardai have launched a competition to increase the numbers of the Armed Support Unit across the country. By June 22nd, that unit will have 20 extra members - an increase of 33pc.

Earlier this week, it emerged that one of the London attackers, Rachid Redouane, had lived in Rathmines as recently as one year ago.
