The wait is over for Roger Federer, the former world number 1 has won the Australian Open in a thrilling five setter this morning.

He beat Rafa Nadal in a match that will go down in history, as victory means the Swiss legend has secured his 18th major crown.

Federer broke Nadal early in the 5th set, so take a two game lead, before the Spaniard crawled his way back into the match, making it 3-all.

But, once again it was Rogers’s experience that took centre stage to eventually lead him to 6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 victory.
