Arnotts on Henry Street is to get an €11 million upgrade.

Parent company Selfridges is to refurbish the iconic north-side department store and improve its IT systems.

Most of the money will be spent on giving the store a new beauty hall, while the air conditioning system will be upgraded.

One of the restaurants will also become a table service eatery.

Graeme McQueen from Dublin Chamber of Commerce believes it's a really positive sign for the city:

"For a long time there's been a rhetoric that bricks and mortar shops in the city centre were on the way out - I think this disproves that idea."

"I think it's really welcome - it's good news for Arnott's and good news for the north-side of Dublin"
