There's been a 15 per cent increase in road deaths since last year.

New figures from the Road Safety Authority and Gardaí show 187 people lost their lives on our roads in 2016 - that's 25 more than last year.

Approximately 1 in 5 people were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of collision - making them three times more likely to be killed.

Pedestrians, motorcyclists and cyclists accounted for a third of those killed on Irish roads this year.
