The Guards have given the public some advice ahead of this years Paddy’s Day Parade in Dublin.

First of all, here’s the 2.5km route the parade will take:

It will start at 12pm from Parnell Square and go down O'Connell Street, over the River Liffey via O'Connell Bridge into Westmoreland Street, past Trinity College at College Green and on to Dame Street. It then turns left at Christchurch Cathedral into Lord Edward Street, Nicholas Street and Patrick Street before finally finishing at St. Patrick's Cathedral.

People planning on attending are being advised to select which area they want to view the parade from in advance, and arrive early, preferably using public transport.

If you’re planning on driving, try to park outside the M50, and take public transport the rest of the way.

For those bringing kids, you can also avail of free wristbands, just in case you get separated on the day.

They've also reminded the public that it's illegal to drink alcohol in a public place in Dublin City.
