Retailer H&M issued an apology yesterday, after a black child model was shown wearing a hoodie saying 'coolest monkey in the jungle.'

The brand had been hit with criticism, claiming that they were 'racist' and that the ad was 'inappropriate' and 'disgusting'.

They've said that they have removed the image from the website, and that it is sorry for any inconvenience caused.

The Weeknd has taken to Twitter to reveal that going forward, he will no longer be working with H&M any longer.

Abel wrote 'woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo. i'm deeply offended and will not be working with  anymore...'

In the past, The Weeknd has modelled for the brand, and sold his merchandise and collection in its stores.

H&M have called the image a 'mistake.'

They've issued an apology which read 'we are deeply sorry that the picture was taken, and we also regret the actual print. Therefore, we have not only removed the image from our channels, but also the garment from our product offering globally.'
