San Diego Comic-Con 2017 wrapped up yesterday and this year's event did not disappoint. The stars were out in force with Will Smith, Cate Blanchett, Seth Rogan, Chris Hemsworth, Ben Affleck and the casts of Game of Thrones, Stranger Things and The Walking Dead all in attendance.

As always the big studios and networks took the opportunity to make some exciting announcements and reveal trailers for upcoming movies and shows.

Netflix:

Stranger Things Season 2

Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Eleven return to Netflix on October 27th to battle the unknown horrors of the Upsidedown once again. With the whole series landing on the Friday of the Halloween Bank Holiday weekend you'll want to keep your diaries free for this one.

Star Trek: Discovery

Despite a number of set backs in the production of Star Trek: Discovery a trailer is finally here. Originally due to be released in January 2017 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the show it has now been pushed out to 24th September

Bright

Bright will be Will Smith's first Netflix original production. He is set to star as an LA police man alongside orc cop Joel Edgerton in a world of humans and magical creatures. It will drop on the streaming site on 22nd December.

Marvel's The Defenders

Not only did the audience get a trailer at Comic-Con but they were treated to a screening of the first episode. The show will see Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist team up to fight crime in New York. The 8-episode series drops in full on August 18th.

Movies:

Thor: Ragnarock

Chris Hemsworth's Thor returns to our screens for the third installment of the franchise on October 27th. Sporting a new, shorter haircut his character is joined by a star studded cast of Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Anthony Hopkins Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum and Mark Ruggalo.

Justice League

Beginning just after the death of Superman Justice League will see Batman team up with Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash and Cyborg to face someone called Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons. It hits cinemas on 17th November.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Taron Egerton returns as unassuming secret service agent Eggsy and this time the cast has expanded to include Julianne Moore, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Jeff Bridges and Channing Tatum. The Golden Circle is released worldwide on September 29th.

Ready Player One

We got a sneak peek at Ready Player One over the weekend which is set to be released in 2018. Steven Spielberg's dystopian movie is based on an Ernest Cline novel where in the near future a massive multiplayer VR game called Oasis has captivated the world.

TV:

Westworld Season 2

Although we don't have an official release date for the second season of the Western/Sci-fi Westworld we have been given a trailer. What we do know about the upcoming series is that it will be 10 episodes long and it set to be released in 2018. Still plenty of time to figure out what actually happened in Season 1.

The Walking Dead Season 8

Fans were treated to a five-minute long trailer as well as a panel discussion with the cast of The Walking Dead at Comic-Con this year. The producers of the show began by paying their respects to a stuntman who died on set last week and continued on to reveal that season 8 will be "very action packed and move at a very fast pace." It returns on 23rd October.

Doctor Who - Twist Upon A Time

This Christmas Special will see the first doctor team up with the twelfth doctor for Peter Capaldi's last jaunt in the role before he hands the reins over to the first female Doctor in the show's history, Jodie Whittaker. With no official release date we can presumably expect it towards the end of December this year.

Now, if that didn't kill an hour in work we don't know what will.
