The 71st BAFTA awards took place in the Royal Albert Hall in London last night.
Joanna Lumley took over hosting duties from Stephen Fry for the first time.
The first award of the night was for Outstanding British Film and was presented by Jennifer Lawrence.
Stepping up to the podium Joanna opened with, "And we start with the award for Outstanding British Film and who better to kick the whole evening off than the hottest actress on the planet".
She continued, "Soon to be seen in Red Sparrow, it’s the ravishing Jennifer Lawrence."
That apparently did not go down well with Jennifer who replied, "Hi, that was a bit much, but thank you Joanna."
Watch the awkward moment for yourself:
It's not completely clear whether Jennifer was being sarcastic or grateful but either way people took to Twitter to express their unhappiness and many considered her rude.
Jennifer Lawrence rude to Joanna Lumley tonight and also talked all the way through that first BAFTA award winning speech. #EEBAFTAs

Jennifer Lawrence obviously has no idea that Joanna Lumley speaks like that to everyone and is a national treasure #EEBAFTAs pic.twitter.com/gS1iNLUC7C

Somebody tell Jennifer Lawrence NEVER to diss in any way royalty like Joanna Lumley. Joanna’s introduction was lovely. Not “a bit much”. Respect your elders, little girl. #EEBAFTAs #BAFTAs @BAFTA pic.twitter.com/8vkDHnZKdX
