The first weekend of Fyre Festival was set to kick off today but due to a number of "growing pains" the luxury event has been pulled.

Headliners Blink 182 cancelled their appearance via Twitter last minute but that was just the start of the issues.

Punters who arrived early to the site took to social media to express their upset at conditions resulting in promoters cancelling incoming flights to the island.

'But it's a festival, get over the conditions' we hear you say. Well, the ticket prices may help to explain the attendees anguish.

Day passes cost $450 which works out at about €413. Pricey but not insane.

The first accommodation package starts at $4,395 (€4034). Ok, a bit sick.

Fancy staying on a yacht during your stay at the island? That will set you back $59,995 (€55,068). Sorry, what?

If a basic yacht isn't up to your standards then you can rent The Great Northern starting from $104,995 (€96,265). K, bye.

The festival which is clearly aimed and the elite, upper class had celebs like Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski involved in the promotion campaign. It's really not Kendall's month for brand partnerships.

Many people are now labelling the Ja Rule run event a scam.

Festival promoters took to Instagram this morning to issue a statement.

Things got off to an unexpected start at day one of Fyre Festival. FOR THOSE CURRENTLY ON GREAT EXUMA We are working to comfortably accommodate guests and deliver a great experience. If you have needs, please head to the "BLUE HOUSE" on the main festival site. Security, first aid, and Fyre Festival staff are here to assist immediately, 24/7. FOR THOSE WITH PENDING TRAVEL TO THE EXUMAS TOMORROW Due to circumstances beyond our control, and in line with a culture of safety, all inbound charter flights to the Exumas have been canceled. Your ticket and any funds uploaded to your RFID band will be refunded. Thank you for bearing with us as we work through the growing pains that every first year event experiences. Revised itinerary information will be shared soon for the remainder of this weekend and weekend two.

"Things got off to an unexpected start at day one of Fyre Festival." You think? Weekend two is due to kick off 5th May. Let's hope the organisers can get things sorted by then.
