Kendrick Lamar and SZA are being sued over the video for their collaboration, All the Stars. British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor has accused the pair of stealing artwork.
The New York Times reports that Lina was contacted by Marvel reps back in 2016 and 2017, and they asked to use her creations. However, Lina says she declined their requests on both occasions.
TMZ now claim that the case has gone to court. Viktor says that her 'Constellations I, II and III' all feature in the video. She states that the use of her work was unauthorised and is 'both an egregious violation of federal law and an affront to the artist, her livelihood, her legacy and to artists everywhere'.
In addition to this, Lina says that Kendrick and SZA lifted stylized motifs of mythical animals, gilded geometric forms on a black background, and distinctively textured areas and patterns.'
All the Stars features on the soundtrack for Marvel's Black Panther which arrived in cinemas last week.
Lina is suing for damages and an injunction against Kendrick and SZA from using her artwork to promote the movie.
