With the VMAs being one of the biggest nights in the music calendar, you'd expect two of the hugest names in the business to attend, right? WRONG.
Both The Weeknd and Selena Gomez left fans broken hearted when they failed to show up at the awards show in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
The Weeknd was nominated in quite a few categories on the night, four to be exact, including Artist of the Year AND he was scheduled to perform as well, however was a no show.
According to TMZ Abel didn't show up because 'he just didn't feel like it.' They say that Abel has been 'on the road for a prolonged period of time, and just didn't feel up to his VMAs gig.'
The Weeknd's girlfriend Selena Gomez on the other hand had different excuse. Selena was nominated for two awards, but she hinted months ago that she wouldn't be heading along.
She's currently filming a Woody Allen movie in New York, alongside Elle Fanning and Timothée Chalamet.
