Ed Sheeran made his cameo appearance in the first episode of season seven of Game of Thrones at the weekend, and the reviews were very mixed.

Some fans of the show were not impressed, and took to Twitter to express their dislike of Ed appearing in the show. Hours after the negative comments were tweeted to Ed, he deleted his Twitter account.

He reactivated his account, and changed his bio to say 'I don't use this anymore, please follow me on @teddysphotos on Instagram, lots of love x.'

The director of Game of Thrones,  Jeremy Podeswa, has defended Ed in light of all of the backlash. Speaking to Newsweek, he spoke very highly of Ed, and couldn't stop singing his praises.

'I think Ed did a lovely job — he's a lovely actor and a lovely person. The hoo-ha seems to be from things that are outside of the world of the show. In the world of the show he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world. If people didn't know who Ed was, they wouldn't have thought about it twice.'

Forget the haters, Ed.
