Fifth Harmony's Lauren Jauregui has revealed she was advised to hide her sexuality in the early stages of the band.

She came out as bisexual last year but has now done an interview saying label executives told her to keep it quiet.

"I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it. I am proud to be part of a community that only projects love and education and the support of one another", she wrote in an open letter to Donald Trump before the US election in November.

In this interview, she says "A lot of artists are held back by the notion that they'll lose their fan base or alienate themselves."

She revealed that it wasn't just label executives who thought she should be less forward about her sexuality- her friends and family expressed soubts too.

"Even friends and family would tell me to keep it to myself. But the more I thought about it, the more I was like, 'Why?'"
