Ariana Grande is taking a small break from the Hollywood spotlight.

She and fiancé Pete Davidson were reportedly due to attend the 70th annual Emmy Awards on Monday night in Los Angeles, however, the pair opted to take a night off away from the cameras, following the death of Mac Miller.

Last week, fans thought they would attend, after seat cards with their names on them were doing the rounds on Twitter.

Saturday Night Live was nominated and won Outstanding Variety Sketch Series, which Ariana and Pete are involved in.

Ariana's team released a statement to People, saying that she would not be in attendance.

"Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend. She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding." Pete also decided to stay with Ariana in New York.

Mac Miller was found dead in his home on September 7th, following a suspected overdose. Ariana shared a touching tribute to the late rapper on Instagram last week.

"I adored you from the day i met you when i was nineteen and i always will. i can't believe you aren't here anymore. i really can't wrap my head around it. we talked about this. so many times. i'm so mad, i'm so sad i don't know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. I'm so sorry i couldn't fix or take your pain away. i really wanted to. the kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. i hope you're okay now. rest."
