If there was ever a man who spoke openly about musicians past and paid tributes to victims of terrible attrocities, it's Chris Martin.
Martin and his Coldplay bandmates were performing in Portland on the latest leg of their tour in the US, when they were joined on stage by REM guitarist Peter Buck.
They started by getting the audience to stand in silence for a moment to remember those who were killed and injured in the mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

After that, they paid tribute to musician Tom Petty, who passed away last night at the age of 66.
They got the crowd on their feet by performing one of Tom's most popular songs - Free Fallin'.
Outstanding!
