The 5 best things to do in Dublin this weekend- James Kavanagh certified!

1) Blue Fire Street Fest, Saturday @ Smithfield Square

BlueFire Street Fest is the only World Cultures multidisciplinary arts festival in Europe. An Aladdin’s Cave of Cultural Delights, we celebrate & showcase the diverse arts being produced in our multicultural city. The festival encompasses 10 zones including Street Performers, World Music on the Main Stage, Workshops & Live Street Art. More info: http://bluefirestreetfest.ie/gallery/

2) Oktoberfest, Thursday - Sunday @ George's Dock

When would you get the chance to sing and dance along to an authentic Bavarian Brass Band on your lunch break? Well, now you can from Thursday, 14th September to Sunday, 1st October. Come on down to Oktoberfest in George's Dock and listen to the traditional Bavarian band Mostland Stürmer followed by a Bavarian DJ playing traditional music from the region. EVENINGS: Wind down after a busy day with the Bavarian band Mostland Stürmer and enjoy some excellent Erdinger Weiss Beer and some German sausages from the charcoal barbecue. Like all live bands they will need a little break and we will have some lively Bavarian music played by a DJ to keep you dancing and enjoying yourself. More info: https://oktoberfest-dublin.de/

3) Tommy Tiernan, Thursday - Sunday @ Vicar Street

As if receiving instructions from a strange and distant star, Tommy Tiernan takes to the stage refusing to take anything seriously. The political and the personal are all up for grabs as the only goal of the evening is laughter. Let our struggles be mocked and our cares abandoned. Allow yourself be guided by a language loving and theatrical performer with a half thought out plan, no professional qualifications and a mouth with a mind of its own. Can you trust him? To be silly, yes. To behave, no. Like a bus conductor standing in front of an orchestra with a spoon in one hand and air horn in the other what could possibly go wrong!? 4) Park(ing) Day, Friday @ all over Dublin

Park(ing) Day was started by Rebar in 2005 in San Francisco. We are turning car parking spaces into public parks, games or art installations for one day every year in September. Park(ing) Day is “intended to promote creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, unscripted social interactions, generosity and play.” -Rebar
Park(ing) Day is about re-imagining how we see our city, one parking space at a time. It's a simple, fun concept. For a single day, on-street car parking spaces around the city will be transformed into imaginative public spaces instead. Artists, designers, urban, environmental and public health activists will create unique installations around the city that will each make its own statement in favour of more people-friendly streets.
